Everything is different except what is the same

Today I went to a market. One of my Filipino colleagues really wanted to find dresses for church. She found some skirts that would do the trick.

The market is large, crowded and loud. The vendors all calling out for the tourist money to be spent in their kiosk. The sounds of haggling all around us. The cacophony of voices from around the globe wheeling and dealing for the best price. Under that was a radio broadcast of some sort over the loud speaker system. Some vendors had portable AC which felt wonderful for the moment as we passed through their area. Then it went back to being hot and sticky.

The people here are so friendly and they are very respectful of others. This is one of the cleanest big cities I have ever seen. The market is fun in small doses. I took my over taxed nerves and ears and headed to my next location early.

I am joining in on a worship service this evening at my friend’s place of work, but before this introvert has to extrovert again she took some quiet time in a familiar place.
